LabMagic

Animal Health Decision Making Aids

LabMagic is a database that provides stakeholders including graziers, veterinarians, rural merchandise resellers and industry representatives access to diagnostic laboratory reports and information. Training notes for animal health courses and other information is also available at LabMagic. Password controlled interactive components include:

  • Complete diagnostic test reports
  • Graphical capability
  • Hyperlinks to fact sheets providing detailed information about common problems
  • Access to a wide range of information suitable for self learning
  • Automatic emailing of the parasitology results as a text file

This service allows integration of parasite monitoring with decision making on drench selection and other management options. This provides farmers with new tools and techniques to achieve economic, effective and sustainable control of, in particular, internal parasites. Internal parasites are the most important animal health problem faced by the Australian sheep and cattle industries. In the past, limited options for disseminating accurate and timely information have hindered the industries' ability to respond. This new combination of diagnostic services, comprehensive database and real-time access to results through a secure website has placed LabMagic as a strategic player in the campaign against resistance and towards sustainable worm control.

Within LabMagic levels of access are graduated with graziers and property managers able to access only their own data. Rural merchandise resellers, veterinarians and industry representatives are able to access their own client data. All users are able to graphically benchmark and compare their data with average data using several parameters including region, parasite species and time.
